The Uniformed Operations branch of the Wilmington Police Department is overseen by Major Matthew Hall, and includes the following divisions and units:

Uniformed Operations

The Uniformed Services Division, commonly known as the Patrol Division, is the largest and most visible component of the Wilmington Police Department. This Division is comprised of police officers who respond to calls for service and patrol neighborhoods throughout the City of Wilmington. Members of the Division consistently work to leverage technology and other strategies to decrease response times to calls for service, and maintain district integrity – assigning the same officers to the same neighborhoods each time they report for duty. This, along with attendance by officers and supervisors at each and every civic and neighborhood association meeting, helps to develop and strengthen relationships with the community we serve, while also helping patrol officers to learn about and address the concerns of residents.

Special Operations

The Special Operations Division includes several specialized units, including the Traffic Unit, which works to promote the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians throughout Wilmington, and the Motorcycle Unit, which assists with escorts and special events. This Division includes personnel assigned as School Resource Officers, as well as the Canine Unit and officers assigned to patrol the downtown, riverfront, West Center City and other assignments.
