We are excited to invite you to join our Wilmington Kickball Club. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, we welcome adults of all skill levels to come out, have fun, and enjoy some friendly competition. Patrons will come and play open games of kickball.

Kickball Rules

  1. Team
    • A kickball team consists of a minimum of 8 players, with a maximum of 10 players on the field at a time.
    • Each team must always have a minimum of 3 female players on the field. (coed)
  2. Game Duration
    • 5 innings or 45 minutes, whichever occurs first
    • An inning is completed when both teams have had an opportunity to kick and field.
  3. Field Setup
    •  The kickball field is like a baseball diamond with bases 60 feet apart.
    • The pitching mound is located 42 feet away from home plate.
    • The bases should be marked clear, and the boundaries of the field defined.
  4. Gameplay
    •  The game begins with a kick from the kicking team.
    • The kicking team has 3 outs per inning.
    • A kicked ball must be pitched underhand and must travel beyond the pitching mound to be considered fair.
    • Runners must touch each base in order without missing any.
    • A runner is out if tagged with the ball while not on a base, forced out at a base, or caught in the air by a fielder.
    • A fielding team can record an out by catching a kicked ball before it hits the ground or by tagging a runner with the ball.
    • The team with the most runs at the end of 5 innings wins the game.
  5. Pitching
    • The pitcher must deliver the ball underhand to the kicker.
    • The pitch should be moderate in speed and height to allow for fair play.
  6. Sportsmanship and Conduct
    •  Players and coaches are expected to always display good sportsmanship.
    • Unsportsmanlike conduct, such as arguing with umpires or opponents, will not be tolerated.
  7. Umpires
    • Umpires are responsible for enforcing the rules, making calls, and ensuring fair play.
    • Umpires' decisions are final and must be respected by all players and coaches.
  8. Equipment
    •  Players should wear appropriate footwear for the playing surface.
    • The ball used should be a regulation kickball.
