Thank you for your interest in reserving a City of Wilmington ballfield. The Department of Parks and Recreation is glad to be of service to city patrons and others seeking to reserve sports fields and courts. Please review all policies, procedures, and attachments which will assist you in the request process.
All permits for reservations for Wilmington Parks are permitted seasonally after an application is received. Scheduling is based primarily on availability.
PERMIT SEASON WINDOW
- Spring (March, April, May) December - February 28
- Summer (June, July, August) March – May 31
- Fall (September, October, November) June – August 21
- Eden Park is not available on Thanksgiving Day.
The Department of Parks and Recreation hosts an annual Adult Flag Football Turkey Bowl, every year on Thanksgiving at Eden Park in partnership with the Southbridge Community, which the public is invited to attend. As a result, Eden Park turf field is not available.

We are reviewing each application in the order we receive it. Each request gets a maximum of five dates approved at one time. Anything in excess of five dates will be reviewed by the committee in an effort to allow other organizations the opportunity to reserve a field. Permit requests must be approved by the Ballfield committee a minimum of fifteen days prior to an event. Approval is at the discretion of the Ballfield committee. Changes, cancellations and additions must be submitted to the Ballfield committee in writing. Please note, that the Department of Parks & Recreation reserves the right to suspend usage of ballfields by organizations that are in violation of our policies and procedures.
Applications must be submitted 15 days or more prior to an event. Applications submitted less than 15 days prior will not be accepted and will be denied.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Alcoholic beverages and/or illegal substances are prohibited in all parks.
- Parking and/or driving on the grass and/or walking path(s) is prohibited.
- Admission fees or fees for rented games/booths may not be charged in parks.
- Distribution of any educational or religious materials is restricted to event attendees only.
Police coverage is required for any event. The permittee is responsible for paying any and all additional costs associated with additional services. Everyone must have police coverage. If an organization cannot provide proof of police coverage they will not be permitted on the field for that event.
