Wilmington Issues Weekly Traffic and Travel Advisory for Special Events, Street Repaving, Other Construction or Repair Projects

Post Date:11/01/2024 4:30 PM

Real-time traffic and travel map available at City website and at the link below

Wilmington’s Public Works Department has compiled the attached list of streets on which construction or maintenance will occur this week by the City itself, or by either DelDOT, Delmarva Power, or private contractors. This information is for Monday, November 4 through Saturday, November 9, 2024.

The City’s website contains a real-time map that is updated daily so you can follow any changes to the weekly schedule caused by weather or other construction-related delays. Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort is made to compile the most accurate list each week of street projects that could affect your travel in the City the following week. She cautioned, however, that the time frames for the listed projects could be altered if they are delayed due to factors such as the weather.

UPDATE: William Winchester Bridge Closure Delayed
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds motorists that the dates of the closure of the William Winchester Bridge on 4th Street over the Christina River, between Christina Avenue and Swedes Landing Road, have been changed so as to not interfere with Election Day on Tuesday, November 4. The bridge will now be closed from Wednesday, November 6 to Friday, November 15. Pedestrian access to the bridge will be closed from Wednesday, November 6 to Thursday, November 14. Motorists should use caution and expect minor delays in the area. DelDOT encourages motorists to continue to tune into WTMC AM, visit deldot.gov, or download the DelDOT app to keep up with the latest traffic information.

Custom House Site Traffic Plan v3

Construction Underway on King Street (Leonard L. Williams Justice Center)
Downtown motorists are reminded that visitors coming to the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center should be prepared for traffic delays on King Street and traffic pattern changes on Alico Road, which surrounds the Custom House and leads to the courthouse parking garage. The lane closures and changes to Alico Road, which took effect in September, are due to the ongoing renovation and expansion of the historic Custom House property at 516 North King Street. Additional updates on traffic disruptions will be posted on the Delaware Judicial Branch website courts.delaware.gov/traffic during the construction.
