The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that the on-going I-95 and US Route 202 Interchange Reconstruction Project will require the closure of Exit 8A. Exit 8A on I-95 southbound to US Route 202/Concord Pike/Wilmington southbound will be closed at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 1.

DelDOT's contractor, Mumford & Miller Concrete, Inc., will be closing and removing the ramp from I-95 southbound to US Route 202 southbound (Exit 8A) and constructing a new ramp, which will open spring 2013. This closure will also provide the opportunity to reconstruct the existing ramp from US Route 202 southbound to I-95 southbound.

Primary Detour:

I-95 southbound to Exit 8B (US Route 202 North/Concord Pike/West Chester)

US Route 202 North, travel through first traffic signal and turn right onto Weldin Road Extended. If you have reached the traffic signal at Independence Mall, you have gone too far. At first traffic light, turn right onto Foulk Road Southbound towards US Route 202, turn left onto US Route 202 Southbound; take US Route 202 Southbound. US Route 202 southbound takes you back towards the City of Wilmington.

Secondary Detour:

Exit 7B for Delaware Avenue and continue South on North Jackson Street, left onto West 9th Street, left to go North on North Adams Street to 10th Street, and turn left onto On Ramp for I-95 North. Proceed on I-95 and take Exit 8 to the right for US Route 202 south.
