Mayor Baker Names Laura Papas Director of Finance

Wilmington Mayor James M. Baker today announced the appointment of Laura Papas as Director of the City's Department of Finance. Laura has worked in the City's Finance Department for 32 years and has held a variety of roles including Deputy Director, Tax Manager and Revenue Manager.

Laura was most recently named Acting Finance Director by the Mayor in January when former Director James Jones resigned.

"Laura is known for her excellent management skills and her complete dedication to the Finance Department's mission of serving citizens," said Mayor Baker. "She is also respected by her peers for her guidance and direction. It is my honor to appoint Laura as the new Director of Finance. I thank Laura for her service to the City, her unique ability to adapt to important new roles within Finance, and her commendable performance in each position."
