Energy Leaders Roundtable

Purpose

The goal of the Wilmington Energy Leaders Roundtable is to engage Wilmington’s business and development community in voluntary efforts to reduce the City’s carbon footprint.

Goals

  • Achieving carbon footprint reduction from building construction and operation
  • Achieving carbon footprint reductions from business and employee and operations and commuting

Roundtable Membership

The Roundtable will be open to all business entities in Wilmington interested in joining the City’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. Members may join or resign at their discretion.

Roles of Members

Commitments - The members of the Roundtable will be asked to make commitments to reducing their energy use, and to report back to the Roundtable on their progress.

Knowledge Transfer - The members will assist one another through sharing case studies of greenhouse gas emission/energy use reduction practices already implemented, including both successes and lessons learned from efforts that faced significant challenges.

Recognition Program - The members of the Roundtable will develop a recognition program for businesses achieving significant. This will be given in conjunction with the Wilmington Awards.

Other - The Roundtable members will have the opportunity to assist the City of Wilmington in the development of programs such as Wilmington Green Buildings.

Roundtable Meetings

The Roundtable meets quarterly. At the discretion of the members, the Roundtable may choose to meet more frequently.

Roundtable Duration

The Roundtable will be initially established for a two year period. The Roundtable may be continued beyond that period if jointly desired and agreed upon by the membership and the City of Wilmington.
